Mesotherapy is a medical specialty that involves injecting microscopic quantities of natural extracts, homeopathic agents, pharmaceuticals and vitamins into the skin through microchannels obtained by the special needles designed into particular rollers. The injected material could cause a rejuvenating effect, tightening for the sagging skin, rejuvenating the hands and the neck, treating skin pigmentation; treating hair fall and thinning of the hair.
Why mesotherapy differs from injections and creams?
The introduction of nano-technology lead to upgrading of all topical treatments including moisturizers, anti-wrinkles and anti-pigmentation treatments in a way that leads to enhanced absorption of the active ingredient into the skin but still it does not approach the maximum effect as injections do.
Thanks to the microchannels obtained by the rollers used in mesotherapy which gives the effect of injection to great extent in most aspects but without the side effects of injections e.g. pain, bruising, ecchymoses, unequal distribution of active materials, prolonged down time effect and the well known remote side effect which is granuloma formatitis.
The only advantage of injections that is not provided by mesotherapy is cheek augmentation and deep nasolabial augmentation.

- Before having a mesotherapy session, the patients should not have done any other procedure e.g. peeling, PUVA laser session, waxing, etc at least 2 days before and after the mesotherapy.
- The patient needs 6 sessions a week apart in order to complete the treatment. A maintenance session should be done twice annually.
- Before the mesotherapy session for the hair, the patient must wash and blow dry the hair immediately before the session. No creams should be applied.
- The active ingredients of mesotherapy are enhanced to enter the skin through the highly specialized rollers with particular needles causing multiple microchannels to occur which favour the deep penetration of the active ingredients
- The patient should not expect a fully satisfactory result before completing the 6 sessions.
- There are 4 types of rollers with different measures and only the treating physician can decide which type is suitable according to the skin texture.
- An allergy test will be held 20 min prior the mesotherapy session to rule out a possible allergic reaction towards any of the ingredients
- Though the procedure implements needles, it is completely bearable and topical local anesthetic cream is only recommended for patients with a low pain threshold
- After the procedure some redness can be expected which is temporary and resolves by cold applications
- Applying sun screens is mandatory the next 2 or 3 days after the procedure.
