Hair Transplantation

Specializing in solutions For: Men's hair loss, Women's hair loss, Thin hair

Look closely at the photo presented here showing our patient with a hairline that can stand up to close scrutiny and never be thought of as tranplants.

Only you need to know ....and you can smile with satisfaction.

Cosmetic surgery for men has increased dramatically in the last few years. Ten of thousands of men undergo hair transplant procedures every day. Today, those same men are experiencing increased confidence, ambition, sociability, and happiness made possible by restoring their natural growing hair. Many of our patients achieve their goal without any obvious signs of surgery.

In the United States alone, more than 200,000 men and women take advantage of hair transplantation to restore the look of fuller hair.

Don't accept your hair loss as irrevocable. For those who feel their best with a full head of hair, there is a natural long term solution. It's restoring hair through transplant surgery.

We understand how difficult it is to take that first step. It takes courage to change. But we also know that once that step is taken, our patients all agree that it was the most exciting thing you will ever do for yourself.

Decisions about hair restoration are important ones, so chances are you'll want to make them with the assistant of medical personnel.

BEFORE THE OPERATION

  1. Stop taking over the counter medication 2 weeks before and after surgery. No aspirin or aspirin type products at least 4 days before the scheduled procedure, preferably 7 days if possible. You may take acetaminophen (Tylenol) type medications if necessary. Please let the office know if you are taking any other type of medications-prescription or non prescription.

  2. No alcoholic beverages for at least 4 days before the procedure, preferable 1 week. Oral Vitamin E should be stopped for 1 week.

  3. A normal nights sleep is recommended the night before surgery.

  4. It is strongly recommended that breakfast or lunch be eaten before the scheduled appointment for the procedure. You should eat even if you do not normally eat those types of meals. If you have any questions about this recommendation, please call the office.

  5. Wash twice and dry your hair the morning of this procedure, before your appointment. Do not use hair spray or other styling gels on the day of surgery.

  6. Dress comfortably the day of surgery. A button front shirt rather than a pullover is recommended so that removal will be easier after the procedure.

  7. If for you are unable to keep this appointment, please let us know at least 7 days before your scheduled appointment.

THE OPERATION

  1. If the surgery will be done early morning, you should be fasting but if it is afternoon, you can take fluid or light meal at morning (This will be discussed with the anaesthetist).
  2. Bring a button-down shirt or wide-necked sweater (so as not to have to pull clothes on over your head.)
  3. Bring a light cap, which is both roomy and clean.

AFTER THE OPERATION

  1. Avoid any sudden movements and bowing of your head in the hours following the operation.
  2. Plan on having somebody drop you off and pick you up after the procedure.

THE EVENING

  1. Sleep on your back or your side in a semi-upright position; protect your pillow with a rolled-up towel.
  2. Do not rub or scratch the implanted area (the forehead).
  3. In case of pain, take 2 Panadol tablets (up to 6 per day).

THE DAY AFTER THE OPERATION

  1. Shampoo the occipital donor zone (posterior) using BETADINE SCRUB (red) in the same way as a normal shampoo and rinse carefully, whilst giving the sutured posterior zone a hard rub with a toothbrush in order to remove all scabs. Then dab with a compress soaked in BETADINE E SCRUB (red). This process should be repeated for the donor zone every day until the 5th day following the operation (you could possibly soak the nape of your neck in the bath 5 minutes before the shampoo). The damper the scabs, the softer they will be and thus the easier they will be to remove.
  2. Moisten the transplanted zone with a water spray several times per day.
  3. From the 2nd to the 4th day, you may experience swallow on your forehead. Such bruising is inconsequential. Apply an ice-pack to the bruising, if possible.
  4. Where necessary, the donor zone should be checked by the surgeon ,Dr Al Rustom or Dr Atef ( Anaesthetist ).

FROM THE 3rd DAY AFTER THE OPERATION

  1. You may observe an oedema of the front during 2 or 3 days, it will decrease quickly within 72 hours.
  2. You may now shampoo the whole scalp with BETADINE SCRUB. Dab the implanted zone gently with your fingertips until the 8th day, then dry gently with a towel or a hairdryer on a low heat. As of the 8th day, if there are still a lot of scabs, soak them in ALES oil ¼ of an hour before shampooing, in order to help soften them. Do not scratch. Skin will naturally flake off taking 1 in every 2 transplanted hairs with it; these hairs will grow again as of the 3rd week. The hairs which remain in place grow directly « like beard hairs ». You may experience a loss of sensitivity in certain zones, from 1 to 3 months. Sometimes, the neighbouring hairs may fall out, although they will grow back later.

ON THE 8th DAY and the 12th DAY

Removal of staples from the donor zone by Dr Al Rustom or Dr Atef.

FROM THE 8th DAY

Start washing again with your usual shampoo.

From the 14th to the 30th days after the operation

After the scabs have fallen off, use MINOXIDIL, spray on once to twice per day for one month, in order to speed up the re-growth of transplanted hairs. Then move on to CHRONOSTIM 3 times per week.

DURING THE 3rd MONTH

  1. Around half of the transplanted hairs emerge. They grow at the same rate as the hairs in the donor zone (around 1cm per month) and can be cut (they may be cut short). By the 3rd month, the hair will have grown to around 2cm long. At the 8th month, all hairs have grown back and maximum density is achieved.
  2. Appointment in the 6th month to check on « capillicare » density.
  3. The optimum aesthetic result is obtained 1 year after the operation.

DRAW BACKS

  1. Micro hair transplant is very safe and light. The only exceptional draw back observed very rarely 1 case/1000 could be in infection easily treated by antibiotics.
  2. Widening of the donor occipital scare is exceptional and can be easily treated by a scare revision after 6 months.
  3. You may observe an oedema of the front during 2 or 3 days, it will decrease quickly within 72 hours.
